Dr Shireen Tabatabai

Shireen Tabatabai graduated from Monash University with honors in 2000. Shireen completed her internship, physician training and Gastroenterology training at Monash Medical Centre. She was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2008.
​
She is currently a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Monash Medical Centre. Shireen is also involved in clinical trials in liver disease.
​
Shireen works in private practice at Clayton and Moorabbin and performs Endoscopy in Clayton and Bayside Endoscopy Moorabbin.
​
She has admitting rights at Jessie McPherson Clayton and Cabrini Malvern.
Shireen Tabatabai’s clinical experience includes patients with liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and performing upper and lower GI endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). She has a special interest in diseases of the liver.
Dr Simon Hew

Simon Hew is a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist with an interest in the early endoscopic detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. He is passionate about high-quality endoscopy, bowel and gastric cancer screening and pancreatic disease. His clinical experience also spans liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

Simon graduated from Monash University in 2008 with honours and won the prize for clinical medicine. He completed his advanced training in gastroenterology in Victoria and Tasmania and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. Simon subsequently undertook subspecialty training in interventional endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and complex polypectomy at Monash Health and the Austin Hospital. In 2019-2020, he completed an interventional fellowship at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, gaining an interest in image-enhanced and third-space endoscopy.

Simon is currently a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist at Monash Health and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, Monash University. He is the Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at Casey Hospital and the Endoscopy Clinic at Monash Health. Simon is invested in teaching and mentoring future gastroenterologists at a local and national level. He is engaged in clinical research and has published in high impact endoscopy and gastroenterology journals.
In addition to his public appointments, Simon consults privately from Clayton and performs Endoscopy at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital.
